Explaining the inclusion of large domestic appliances in what will be termed “Home Appliances @ IFA”, Messe Berlin COO, Dr Christian Göke said, "we are basically mirror copying what is happening in the distribution channels already, and we feel comfortable that this move will improve the quality of the show again... we will reach a new dimension. The media coverage will significantly grow by integrating this segment into our show. It was not an easy decision, but we feel comfortable that this time all the major arguments for our three core clients the end consumer, the trade visitor and the media will all approve this decision. They all gain from this integration of the White Goods industry". |

In an announcement preceding CES, Dr. Reinhard Zinkann, spokesman for the Home Appliance Associations within the ZVEI and managing partner of Miele & Cie. KG, explained: "Starting in 2008 the manufacturers of home appliances will be taking part regularly in the IFA, which is now an annual event." The intention is to set aside 30,000 square metres of display space in Halls 1.1 6.1 on the Berlin Exhibition Site exclusively for the manufacturers of brand name products.

According to Dr. Rainer Hecker, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the gfu and Chairman of the Board of Loewe AG, there were some compelling reasons for this step: “Manufacturers and dealers alike are aware that our markets are becoming increasing interlinked. We are delighted with the decision by the electrical home appliance industry and see this as an acknowledgement of the achievements of the CE industry and of the positive development of the IFA. Those involved will shortly be getting together to work out and present details of this collaboration.”
