IFA... Designed to Meet the Interests of the Industry
Interview with Jens Heithecker, Director Competence Center Information & Communication, Messe Berlin GmbH

Hats off and "Danke!" to IFA Organisers

Until just a couple of years ago, the IFA show only happened every two years. The decision taken by organisers to run the show annually met with some resistance and criticism from the “it’ll never work” gang. The positive attitude of the IFA management coupled with total dedication and capped off with good old German organisational skills (in that department, nobody does it better, let’s face it!) have not only helped them win the wager, but have propelled IFA to the position of number one CE tradeshow worldwide. But the management crew also knew that for IFA to be truly successful, it had to become more international. In Europe, each country is rightfully proud of its heritage, culture and language, and Germany is no exception. However, it is one country where people have really grasped the value of the English language when it comes to communicating on an international level. As an Australian, many a time I have been with a group of Germans who all spoke English so I could understand... and they don’t even mind! It’s not like that in some other countries. So IFA has been doing its best to welcome international visitors, with English widely used as the language of the show. This year, they’ve gone one step further, commissioning Cleverdis to run the official show daily in English – called IFA INTERNATIONAL – distributed daily at all info points at the show. Of course, we’re flattered and thrilled to have the opportunity of representing IFA officially in that sense, but we also take our hats off to the organisers for taking that extra step towards making a truly international event.

This publication, New Digital Solutions, is still “made by Cleverdis” as an unofficial IFA publication (all the while in partnership with the show). It aims to give you some valuable “take home” information, with our selection of innovative new products being launched onto the market, and an update on some of the latest movements in the industry. Our aim is to assist in a healthy information flow in the industry and the ongoing education of the market. Please also take the time to visit our website www.cleverdis.com where all our other vertical market publications and SPECIALreports are available to download free of charge and with no login required.

Happy IFA 2007... We hope you get the best from the show, and we’ll do our very best to help you.
